Turn

Currently, I'm sick. I really dislike being sick.

This past week has been really interesting. Let me give you guys a nice recap:

1) My little blue phone is no longer with us. He took a dip in the pool. It was quite a hassle to get a new one too. I had to go through so much just to get people at Verizon to even talk to me, but they finally did. Praise God that I got a huge discount on my new phone! I really like it too...at first I was really unhappy about the phone I got, but its really grown on me. I may even like it better than my little blue phone.

2) The staff left project, which means we've hit the half way mark of project. I cannot believe that I have been out here for five weeks. It feels like its only been three weeks tops. The staff leaving was very bittersweet. On one hand, it meant that the students would be stepping up into leadership roles and that we are responsible for whatever happens on the rest of project. On the other hand, it meant that they won't be around anymore. I've grown close to Monica and Jessica, so its hard to know that I wont get to meet with them for a long time. Monica won't be coming back to Vail while we are on project, but she said she would keep in touch with me. Jessica will be coming back in every couple of weeks, so I will get to see her. I'm just interested to see how the rest of project will go.

3) My skin is falling off, and yes, its as disgusting as it sounds. I got a really bad sunburn during the thirty mile race, and its only gotten worse. My skin on my shoulders is literally falling off, and I'm in so much pain. I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not, but I feel like I should be. Everyone is telling me that it could be sun poisoning. I just hope it all clears up and goes back to normal, because it is painful to look at and painful to feel.

4) Fireworks. Vail has AMAZING fireworks. This was also a bittersweet moment for me though. I love fireworks...they are one of my favorite things. I just think they are so magical to watch! But, I'm used to the tradition of fireworks at the sub base. We go almost every year, whether its with my family or with my friends. Their fireworks display is spectacular! It was fun to hang out with everyone and sit by the water watching some fireworks. Simply beautiful.

5) Faith. Its all about having faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." That was the theme of our family dinner on Monday. We were blindfolded and told to follow the voices of the people leading the activity. They led us to this park outside, where they put a plate of food down in front of us and told us to eat it...blindfolded. It was frustrating, especially since it was pasta. After that, they led us back to Simba and told us we were doing an obstacle course. Our hands were placed on a rope, and they said that all we had to do was follow the rope. It turns out that this course was a circle. We were going in circles for awhile, before we realized we needed to ask for help. Once we asked for the activity leaders to help us, they took off our blindfold and told us we could leave the obstacle course. It took me awhile to figure out what I needed to do because I'm too stubborn to ask for help sometimes. I like to believe that I can do it on my own, but in reality, thats just not true.

I think thats really it for now. Only five more weeks left, friends! I still cant believe how fast this project is going by.
